Spain – September 2008

Malaga

Decided to escape the constant grey and wet of home and head for sunnier climes and settled on Andalucia, Spain.  Arrived to chaos at Malaga Airport which is a giant construction site at the moment as they build a new, international airport.  A German guy helped us get off the airport bus at the right stop for our hotel, and we were surprised to alight from the bus onto a lovely boulevard of attractive buildings and fountains. On looking out of the window of our hotel room we were confronted by the Cathedral fully lit, although one bell tower missing – they never finished it!

We headed out for a restaurant, forgetting the street name quickly and getting lost but enjoying the lovely narrow streets with charming buildings catching our eyes. We settled on a Tapas Bar and made the mistake of ordering too much food!  Lesson learnt quickly that the tapas portions are not as mean as in the UK tapas bars, and you can always order more food if need be!

Woke to heavy grey sky and lashing rain…. oh, so familiar! Despite that after breakfast in a cool cafe bar, Moka, round the corner from the hotel, we went for a walk to the Alcazabar.

On a nice day this would offer fabulous views out to see and along the coast but not today.  After getting thoroughly soaked we headed for the bus station to get the coach to Ronda.
