On Saturday, 13th September, we were evening guests to the wedding of Becky and Padraic Waters.  We headed down deep into the Borders to find Duns and then onwards to Wedderburn Castle, only thanks to the smallest sign known to mankind! The castle is inhabited by the owners, the castle dating back to 1785 and designed by the Adam brothers.

The castle has a lovely feel, although obviously grand it is homely with comfortable drawing rooms and grand, gallery hallways and a lovely double staircase in the entrance hall perfect for wedding photos. The Ballroom has elegant chandeliers and well trodden floorboards, the drawingroom has a grand piano and large couches to recline on.  The Morning room adjacent to the Ballroom allows a resting place from the dancing and a good spot to chat with friends without shouting over music.

The numbers are restricted for wedding parties to around 90 guests.  A downside  to the venue would be the distance guests have to travel – staying in the area is certainly the recommended route!

We arrived at twilight so we didn’t really see the castle in its full glory, but I believe it has extensive lawns perfect to sit out on with a g&t and watch the sunset.
