Scotland – Old Pines Hotel, Spean Bridge

We found this place on the basis of the food reviews, and they were right! Delicious seasonal, local produce made into fabulous dinners – this is the highlight of Old Pines. The owners are a lovely, hard working couple with a high attention to detail. There is a comfortable, homely lounge area with log fire for those chilly winter nights, and tea, coffee and drinks are served in there with music playing in the backround and plenty books for you to flick through.
The rooms are pleasant and comfortable, although we found our room a little on the small side, but with the lounge area you don’t have to worry as you have somewhere to relax outwith your room anyway. There are TV/DVDs in the rooms so you can chill out and watch a movie (they have a selection for you to choose from) if the dark, winter nights keep you in.

Lounging in the Old Pines

Only down side for our stay was that someone didn’t notify the proprietors that they were going out, so when these guests returned they were locked out, and kept ringing the door bell which was located in the office next door to our room – so we were woken up at 2am! Grrrr. So, make sure you tell them if you are going out in the evening – although why you would want to leave the place, I don’t know!! A lovely country home from home!
