We first stayed at Garmoran Square in May 2007 and having loved it so much we returned the following November. Susan and Kenneth, the proprietors, are locals to the area who built these tasteful cottages in a courtyard setting in croft style. Although they look traditional on the outside these apartments offer luxurious, contemporary interiors. They offer boutique hotel style whilst also offering homely comfort. Ideal for a lovely, comfortable break “up north”. We stayed in the MacRuari apartment which sleeps two. We were impressed with how well equipped the cottage was from well equipped kitchen to DVD and CD players – ideal for those wet scottish evenings! We were shown the other, larger apartments and all are stunning and immaculate!
Susan and Kenneth are wonderful hosts and nothing is too much trouble. On arrival you find they have provided you with some coffee, milk, some goodies from the local bakery to get you started. They can offer advice on walks and things to do in the area.
Chopped wood is readily available for you to stoke up the fire and lovely Arran Aromatics goodies in the bathroom set you up for a lovely bath!

Would you mind emailing me with things to do in the area? Im visiting the area to explore family roots and myself and two other Canadian friends will be travelling by train only. That means we will be on foot!! Is this advisable?
Thanks
Hi Sarah
If you have a look at the website for Garmoran Square they have links on what to do in the area. I would suggest hiring a car is wise. The distances in this area are significant, the Scottish weather is never predictable and as it’s so remote here public transport is available but not frequent. If you want to get out and about to see things, a car will take you from area to area thus allowing you time to fully explore what the area has to offer – plenty walking included! Enjoy.
